Jackie Sleper Biography

Jackie SleperJackie Sleper was born in Amsterdam in 1962 and attended College of Agriculture and Horticulture. She studied art at the Utrecht Academy for Visual Arts from 1987 to 1992, and also has pursued additional arts studies in Ireland, Spain and the Czech Republic.

In the Netherlands, her work has been exhibited in various cities, including Amsterdam (KunstRai), Rotterdam (Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum and Galerie Animaux), and Utrecht (Daatselaar & Godhelp-Antique Dealers and Galerie Quintessens). Outside the Netherlands, she has exhibited in Stockholm (Art Fair), Marbella (Marb Art - Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo), Geneva (Europ'Art), Klagenfurt (Biennale Austria), Salzburg (Mozart Festival), Florence (Museo Diocesano and Biennale Internazionale dell'Arte Contemporanea), Milan (Studio D'Ars), New York (Carrozzini Von Buhler Gallery and CVB Space), Mexico (Museo de la Cultura Maya de Chetumal, Quintana Roo) and New Delhi, India (Bajaj Capital Art House).

One of her works, Modestia, was shown at the Lido during the Venice Open 2007 - International Exhibition of Sculptures and Installations.
In September 2007, she exhibited at the Biennale di Venezia. Two months later, her works were on show at the Biennale Internazionale dell' Arte Contemporaneo di Firenze, where she won first prize for her complete works in the category Sculpture and Installations.

In January 2008, Gabriel Rosenzweig, Minister of the Mexican Embassy, opened the preview of the exposition Jackie Sleper: Dulce y Amargo. The exposition was dedicated to Mexico and held in Galerie Quintessens in Utrecht (The Netherlands). In 2008 and 2009, this exposition was on display throughout Mexico. In 2008, at the Museo de la Cultura Maya in Chetumal (March-April), the Museo de la Isla de Cozumel, Quintana Roo (May-June), the Museo de Arte Moderno de Gómez Palacios, Durango (July-August), the Museo Palacio Pedro de Alvarado, Hidalgo del Parral (September-October), the Museo del Aguacate, Durango (November-December), and in 2009 at the Museo de la Ciudad Santiago de Querétaro (January-June).

In March 2009, Jackie Sleper exhibited in New Delhi, India, at the Bajaj Capital Art House, where she was Artist of the Month for March. The exhibition was opened by the Dutch Ambassador to India, Bob Heinsch. She also gave lectures in the Bajaj Capital Art House, and in the Vyom Art Centre in Jaipur..
